Also for the summer you’re getting a Civ5 GOTM! For this session you play as Pachacuti of the Inca on a standard size “South America” map on Immortal level. You need to win this game with a culture victory, and you must prevent that any other civ achieves another victory. You have until September 1 to play this game. Public beta for Folk Emerging – a prehistoric 4X

We’ve been for a while following the progress of “Folk Emerging“: A 4X game, which stops when civ starts, and starts… way before. In this turn-based strategy game you control a stone age tribe, make sure you feed your tribes-men and -women, and discover new technologies like fire and tool making.

Now the next phase for this game has started, and you can participate in the public beta and playtest it! You can request access via the Steam page here. We’d be curious to hear your experiences if you played it, please report back here (if allowed).

Alpha Centauri: University Base Film Series – Episode 2 Part 1

Last year when we celebrated the 25th anniversary of Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri we showed you the first episode of a brilliant new fan shortfilm series by Ratimir Rakuljic titled ‘University Base’ retelling the story of University faction leader Prokhor Zakharov’s journey to Alpha Centauri. Well the day has come that his big Episode 2 titled ‘Fractured Unity’ is here.. in fact it’s so big he’s splitting it into 3 parts! We hope folks enjoy it as much as they did Episode 1! 🙂

Civilization 3 Scenario/Mod Preservation Project

Years ago we posted about Blake’s Civ2 preservation project which went on to preserve several thousand lost Civ2 mods & scenarios. Well now he’s kicked off a new Civilization 3 scenario & mods preservation project starting with 4 large collections totaling around 16 Gigabytes. If you’re a fan of Civ3 and it’s mods then we encourage you to grab copies for yourselves and if you happen to have your own large collection of Civ3 mods and scenarios you’d be willing to donate then please let us know! Dev Journal #3: What’s Next for Ara: History Untold?

A new dev diary for Ara: History Untold has been posted on Steam on Monday.
The team from Oxide talks about the coming version 2.0, which will be a big update.
It will include new features, like new units per nation, and more and better ways to shape your culture and make your nation unique.
The update will also come more incremental steps, like reduced micromanagement, and UI and performance improvements.

Civilization VII Update 1.2.3 – July 22, 2025

The new patch 1.2.3 for Civ7 is now available, as well as the first part of the “Right To Rule” DLC.

The patch comes with auto-explore settings, adjustments to the age transition, a new unique commander and a bunch of more things.

The “Right To Rule” DLC comes with Ghengis Khan, Assyria and the ancient Vietnamese kingdom of Dai Viet, and 4 new wonders.

Civ7 update 1.2.3 coming tomorrow (July 22, 2025)

Sara dropped by today to give us some news about the upcoming update 1.2.3. The most important part is that it comes tomorrow, together with the “Right To Rule” DLC.

The patch will include the option to auto-explore, improved/cleaned up notifications and advisors, changes to the age transition, and more.

The Right To Rule DLC will come with Ghengis Khan, Assyria and the ancient Vietnamese kingdom of Dai Viet, with related buildings and wonders. This is only the first part of the DLC, the second part is scheduled for September 25.
