Years in the making CivFanatics user Blake00 has gone public with the v1.1 release of his & user MetroPolisโs Heroes of Might & Magic 2 total conversion scenario modpack for Sid Meier’s Civilization 2. Since Sept was the 30th anniversary of Heroes 1 he also made his HoMM1 graphics addon pack available earlier than planned too. Almost every part of Civ2 (which will be having its own 30th anniversary soon) has been changed to feel more HoMM like making this possibly the largest total conversion mod ever made for Civ2 Gold!

Civ7: Patch 1.3 coming, and free DLC “Tides Of Power” next week
We do not know the release date of Patch 1.3 yet, but the release of the DLC “Tides Of Power” is November 4, and it will be free for all players until January 5.
The patch might include an option to keep playing your civ (might, because changes are not sure yet), and will come with a range of naval options, fitting to the DLC. This includes a harbor building, a privateer unit, a range of resources (among them crab and turtle), and new terrains.
The DLC will bring in its first part the Pirate Republic and fittingly Edward Teach as leader, together with another seafaring nation, Tonga. The second part will come later, and will include the Ottomans, Iceland and the 16th century barbary pirate ruler Sayyida al Hurra.

25 years of Civfanatics – a retrospective – UPDATE: Also Civ4 anniversary
Time flies, when you’re playing civ, and the same applies when you are browsing the forums! Today is one of the days which can be considered the birthday of Civfanatics, and we turn 25, which is in the age of the internet nearly biblical. For this occasion we have written a retrospective, which hopefully includes the most interesting things about the forums. This starts from our timeline, the stats, our best content, the notable projects the community has created, from mods to podcasts, the weirdest things the mods have never told anyone, and other things you might not know. Have a read here.
UPDATE: The strange ways of the universe have also lead to the fact that the original release date of Civ4 is exactly 20 years ago! Join the celebration here.

Humankind – Freya update
It seems that last Friday Amplitude accidentally released a part of the Freya update.
Their initial plan was to fix a security issue with the Unity engine, and they accidentally also deployed the already finished parts of the Freya update.
They therefore decided to make this now official, and have released the current patch notes.
You can find the official post here.
The changes:
- Religion Tier Requirements have been rebalanced and should scale better with map size and number of players now
- Non-State Religion followers in your territories now give a mild stability penalty per pop (there are ways to offset this)
- Territories now have a โFaith Defenseโ value that reduces incoming faith pressure from non-state Religions
- Multiple religions can share the same tenet now
- All Tenets have been rebalanced with effects that reward spreading your state religion. The Tier 4 Tenets give the Religious Leader additional benefits.
- Religious Civics were adapted to the new Religion balancing
- New Persona: William Wallace
You can discuss this update with us here.
