By | October 29, 2024

Firaxis has uploaded some of the music of the known antiquity and exploration age civs (some are currently being re-uploaded), and they seem very nicely themed. For the soundtrack discussion, please check this thread by our user Guandao.

For people interested in the background art, our user Rac has uploaded all the nice artwork, and you can find them now in our gallery here.

We also got today the official reveal of the Normans, although all the data has been collected before by our moderator Laurana Kanan. If you want to discuss all the Norman fortifications (as all their unique infrastructur and associated wonder are essentially that), then have a look here.

Civ7 – an overview over the Ages mechanic

By | October 26, 2024

Besides having changing civs, the most controversial and interesting change in Civ7 is the Ages mechanic. Instead of playing one game, there will be breaking points after roughly 150-200 turns, where you switch your civ, and many other things also happen at the same time. This includes that in each age there will be different mechanics present, some resources will only be available in certain ages, buildings will get obsolete, religions become available, and many more. If you are interested in a good overview, check the thread made by our user thecrazyscott, who has put everything together for you to read. Check it here, and let us know what you think.

New Civ7 civ guide: Persia, and new leader info, Xerxes

By | October 24, 2024

Firaxis has given us today a deeper look onto the last remaining antiquity age civ, Persia, and the suitable leader for it, Xerxes.

Persia is an economic and militaristic civ, with a starting bias for deserts and plains. Their associated wonder, the Gates Of All Nations, gives more gold and support in a war. This ability will go well together with the unique commander, the Hazarapatis, which allows units to move after unpacking, and the unique unit Immortal, which heal after defeating a unit. Ancient Persia will definitely be a warmongering civ in Civ7. For the discussion about Persia, please check this thread.

We also got another insight into the appropriate leader for Persia, Firaxis has picked Xerxes. Xerxes comes with 2 personas, of which one will be available only via DLC. The base game persona will also be economic and militaristic, and will give his units boni if attacking in neutral or enemy territory. The DLC persona will focus more on Persias location on the silk road, and will give increased trade boni. For all the info please check this thread.

Ara: History Untold Patch 1.0.5 and Encarta series 11 – The Incas

By | October 23, 2024

The Ara devs dropped a first patch, version 1.0.5. This patch mostly focuses on performance, stabilitz and balance, whereas the more interesting features will be included in the upcoming patch 1.1.

They also released another Encarta series video, about the Inca. As usual, the devs first about the history of the civ, and then highlight Pacchacuti as the leader. His abilities give him additional resources, reflecting his history as a builder, but they also give boni for fortifications and walls, as he also conqured many of the other tribes in the surrounding. He is also one of the rare leaders to have a malus for craft production.
For all the details, watch the video and discuss it here.
