We have posted already a few times about “Folk Emerging”, as it probably tickles every civ-fans interest: It is a turn-based 4X game, but you are not managing a civilization, but a stone-age tribe, who needs to discover fire and the wheel, hunt and gather for food, battle other tribes, with the aim to survive. And now there is a demo available! According to the announcement, the demo includes 1/3 of the tech tree, 1/2 of the cultural traits you can develop, 5/9 climates, some events, and is otherwise mainly limited by having 1 map.
