Summer Game Fest – June 7th
Civilization VII was officially announced on June 7th, 2024 at the Summer Game Fest. Prior to that, it had been announced on February 17, 2023 that the next iteration of the Civilization series was in development.

Gamescon 2024 – August 20th
On August 20th, 2024, Firaxis showed the first gameplay showcase at Gamescon 2024 in Cologne, Germany. Click the image below to view it from our Gallery, where you will also find a complete, searchable, and forum-quotable human-generated transcription. Its discussion thread lives here.
In addition, there were two other options for learning about Civ at Gamescon:
- Gamescom Opening Night Live Civilization VII Gameplay Reveal Trailer – From this, the Internet at large received this Sid-narrated video about Civ VII.

PAX West – “History is Built in Layers” – August 31st
Firaxis followed up the initial gameplay reveal with a PAX West presentation (as well as many media articles).

September 12 – Antiquity Age Developer Livestream
Here’s what you can expect, according to Firaxis:

- We’ll cover an Age transition: what you can expect and what will carry over into the Exploration Age.

December 17th – Modern Age Livestream
