Layoffs at Firaxis

It seems that today various personnel at Firaxis got layed off, mostly junior staff members. This got also confirmed by 2K, and is the 3rd round of layoffs this year already. This comes despite that the 2K CEO recently claimed that Civ7 is still on track for its expected revenue. For more information please read this news article, and discuss with us here.

Anno 117 – Demo now available

The traditional city builder series “Anno” will be getting there next installment this year, with Anno 117: Pax Romana, which has been in development for a while. There is now a demo available, for the next 2 weeks (until Sept 16). You can download it via Steam, Epic or Ubisoft Connect here.
The demo requires the Ubisoft launcher, it includes Denuvo and has a 1h time limit.
You can play as the Romans on the British Isles (or Albion, as called in the game).
The full game is expected to release November 13.

We got the next “Game Of The Month” for Civ7 for you! Compete with other civfanatics who’s the best at Civ7 in a predefined game!

This time you start as Ibn Babutta of the Maurya, and must progress to Songhai and Buganda. You play on a standard size map on Sovereign level with light disaster intensity. Your task for this game is to win a militaristic victory in the fewest turns over all ages.

Next Longturn FreeCiv MMO session starting soon

The Longturn community will be starting their next game soon, and you’re invited to participate!

Longturn is a version of Freeciv specifically adjusted for multiplayer games. You play 1 turn per game, with a bigger group of people, until again one of you dominates the planet.

Old World update #138

Mohawk Games, the developers of Old World, have released the latest update for their game! This update includes a new small map size, adjustments for the victories, AI improvements and a large range of bug fixes.

Old World is currently available in the Epic Store, on GOG, Steam, and on Stove.

Civilization VII Update 1.2.4 – Patch 1

Firaxis has released a small addition to patch 1.2.4, the patch 1. It addresses a bug where clicks were not registered, made the game remember the age transition settings, and a few details more. For the discussion and the full patch notes please check here.

Old World: 2025 Community Tournament

The developers of Old World have just announced a tournament, the 2025 community tournament. Up to 14 games will be played in a double-elimination system. All games will be recorded and commented by experienced players. It seems it possible to sign up for eternal glory (or also just to get notifications) via Discord here. All games will be played in September, depending on the availability of the players.
