Sullla’s AI Survivor Season Eight – Game 8

By | July 29, 2024

AI Survivor is an annual competition of all Civilization IV AI Leaders by long-time Civilization enthusiast and streamer Sullla.

Game 7 saw Elizabeth “Lizzy” of England pull out an extremely shocking Domination victory. While Lizzy is not prone to winning in Survivor she is certainly geared toward being a pacifist. However, Lizzy simply out-teched everyone else and when they attacked her she took advantage of her military tech superiority. Another surprise was that Sury of Khmer, the favorite, performed absolutely abominably in this game. Yet he did survive for the playoffs having been left with one ice city. Mehmed placed second in the match. What will Lizzy do in the Alternate Histories for this game?

Game 8 features an interesting matchup of primarily militaristic leaders. Favorite Julius Caesar of Rome is the top-seeded leader and will surely be a threat with his Praetorian units. Louis XIV of France is our second-ranked leader. Louie is renown for wonder-building and not being the most trustworthy leader. Of interest here is that we have quite a few imperialistic and charismatic leaders. Expansion will be fast and wars should be frequent. Lincoln of America is the only leader on the map that is truly peaceful. Will he survive? Be sure to make your picks in the picking context.

Sullla’s AI Survivor Season 8 continues Friday, August 2nd on Sullla’s Twitch Channel at noon EST.

Ara: History Untold: Dev Diary, Ep. 21 – Government

By | July 22, 2024

The devs of Ara have released their 21st dev diary, in which they talk about the goverment systems in Ara.
As in the civ games, you start with a basic type of government, and you unlock new types in the research tree. While the government types have positive modifiers, it’s unclear from the video if they also have negative modifiers, but the devs said they had a look at the historical impact of the governments.
The leaders have some shared traits, similar to Civ3 and Civ4, and some of them will have synergies with some forms. The other details are a bit more vague, but have a look at the video yourself. And come discuss it with us here.
