For the mid-month Civ6 GOTM you play as Jayavarman VII of the Khmer on a standard size wetlands map on Deity level. The game is hot and arid with a low sea level and sparse resources. You get a bit compensated with a legendary starting position, but you also need to deal with dramatic ages and a disaster intensity of 2. In addition to this you need to win a diplomacy victory. The deadline is April 15, and you can find more information here.

Millennia Developer Diary – Achievements, Modding & Multiplayer

By | March 18, 2024

We got another developer diary from the new Paradox game Millennia!
This time the diary is about various options which we all like to have: MP, modding and achievements. Obviously Millennia has them all, as we would otherwise not have this diary. The short version is that Millennia does support Hot Seat, as well as the cloud version of this, which apparently ends up being a stream-lined version of Play-By-Email. Millennia will furthermore have modding support, via XML files, which many modders here are already used to from modding Civ4 to Civ6. There are also various achievements, e.g. for unlocking each age, making definitely multiple playthroughts necessary to get all achievements (although most people will anyways play countless times). For a longer version of everything with more details please check this thread.

For the mid-month Civ5 GOTM you play as Dido of Carthage on a standard size small continents map on Deity level. While you would certainly want to take a stab at Caesar, you have to win via a Diplomacy victory, and prevent all other civs from achieving another victory. Your deadline is April 15. For more information please check this thread.

CivBattleRoyale Season 4 (CBR X4) starting soon!

By | March 12, 2024

The Civ5 Battle Royale is huge but the concept of the show is pretty simple! On a massive world map, 61 AI Civilizations got at it to see which one can be the last one standing. All Civilizations are chosen by the audience of the civbattleroyale reddit group and part of the fun is helping narrate the story collectively along with original content and putting your support behind one of the competitors. No human intervention in the show as a several months long game is recorded and then curated into episodes across the action. Episodes are narrated by members of their 10k+ sized community cheering on the AIs on their unpredictable route to victory. Three seasons have been recorded so far, and the 4th one is about to start on March 20. If you are interested in following, then join us in our thread here.
