New short about diplomacy, and don’t forget the live stream tomorrow, Dec 17

Firaxis has today released another short, this time focusing on the diplomacy. They explain the various options which the new system gives to you, and how you can use them to influence the other civs in the game. Have a watch, and discuss it with us here!

Civilization 3 Hall Of Fame – Update

The Civilization III Hall of Fame has been lively this year. After years with 30 games submitted and 41 games submitted in 2022 and 2023, 104 games have been submitted so far this year, including 10 in the most recent Black Friday update.

Highest Firaxis Score

Congratulations to Spoonwood for the highest Firaxis score of the update with a Standard Sid Histographic game for 35199 points. This is also the highest Firaxis score of the year so far.

Most Active Player

BlackBetsy was the most active player during this update, submitting 5 games.

Sid-Level Games

Only 1 player was brave enough to take on Sid this update. Spoonwood submitted a 2050 AD Standard Sid Histographic game for 35199 points. This is the sixth Sid-level game submitted to the Hall of Fame this year.

First-Place Games

A number of players gained number one positions:

Spoonwood with a 2050 AD Standard Sid Histographic game for 35199 points.

Bartleby with a 810 AD Tiny Regent Cultural 100k game for 5211 points.

Thirteen games have achieved new number one positions this year.

Quartermaster Competition

The Hall of Fame has several competitions, with the Quartermaster being the most prominent among them. To be a Quartermaster, a player must have a game in the Hall of Fame across various map sizes, difficulties, and victory conditions, as well as Histographic game.

Congratulations to Chamnix for rising from 5th to 4th, to del62 for rising from 6th to 5th, to Bartleby for rising from 11th to 7th, to BlackBetsy for rising from 15th to 13th, to sanabas for rising from 21st to 20th, to archphoenix for rising from 30th to 29th and to Rustwork for rising from 31st to 30th in the Quartermasters competition.
Commiserations to Takeo for falling from 4th to 6th, to killercane for falling from 7th to 8th, to Nikodemus for falling from 8th to 10th, to Moonsinger for falling from 10th to 11th, to bluejay for falling from 13th to 14th, to PrinceMyshkin for falling from 14th to 15th, to Marsden for falling from 20th to 21st and to Lord AJ for falling from 29th to 31st in the Quartermasters competition.

Civ7: Was the Age of Discovery Livestream Cause for Optimism, or Skepticism?

Our member “Emotional Husky” has made a video about the last live stream, discussing if the new mechanisms are something which the community is looking forward to, of if they are more skeptical if these mechanisms will work nicely together. Civ7 “Rediscovering Hope” opening Cinematic and theme song

During the Game Awards we got 2 new and very interesting videos. The first is the opening cinematic for Civ7, called “Rediscovering Hope”, which take you through a journey through time, war, culture and trauma. The theme song is now also available. It has again been designed by the master Christopher Tin, and is indeed a very worthy title to open an epic game. You can discuss the theme with us here.

Civ VI Monthly Challenge: Civpocalypse

Firaxis has released the new Civ6 challenge, this time called “Civpocalypse”. As the name says, it is a horrid setting, with Barbarian Clans, maximum disaster intensity and apocalypse game mode. You play as Tamar of Georgia on a tiny pangaea map with wet climate and high sea level on quick speed with sparse resources. You may pick between Prince and Emperor difficulty for this challenge. This challenge is available until January 15. For more info please check here.

Civ7 news of the day: New civ guide for Mexico, and modern age live stream

We got 2 new pieces of Civ7 info today from Firaxis!

The first one is that we got a new civ guide, this time Mexico! Mexico is cultural and diplomatic, with a starting bias for desert and plains. Mexico gets many cultural buildings, a unique government form, and their associated wonder, the Palacio de Bellas Artes, get boni from great works. For more info please check this thread.

The second important info is that we will get another live stream, this time for the modern age. You can tune in on December 17th at 10AM PT / 1PM ET / 5PM GMT / 7PM CEST, to see gameplay with Benjamin Franklin with the American civ in the modern age. And a new leader will be revealed as well.
