Madish Moose: HUMANKIND versus Civilization 6 – A (mostly) Definitive Comparison based on the 4x Strategy Genre
For the 2 year anniversary of Humankind, the streamer Madish Moose has released a video comparing Humankind to Civ6. On his Twitch profile you can see that he plays both games regularly, so he has some experience with both of them. In the video he compares both titles based on the 4Xs of the genre, and judges which game performs better on them.
Do you agree with him? Let us know here!
Play the new Civ4 “Game Of The Month” #256
And the climate madness continues in the GOTM: For the Civ4 GOTM you play as the Maya, but not in a lush jungle area, but on a modified boreal map. The map has a standard size, and you will be playing on Prince level. You have until September 15 to dislodge soccer as the world’s most favourite ball sport.

Humankind is turning two (anniversary update and community challenge)
It now has been 2 years since the release of Humankind, and Amplitude has released an anniversary update!
The above video summarizes shortly the deveopments over this time frame.
But that is not it yet, obviously, another update is to come next month, and until then, you get a community challenge where you can discover some things about the new features which you will be getting.
The full post:
Hey everybody!
Humankind was released two years ago today, so it’s time for a little celebration. Just a little one, though, as we’re quite busy working on the next update.
For those of you who haven’t been following our regular news, here’s a little summary of what we’ve worked on in the past year:
We know many of you are excited to get your hands on the trade rework, improve naval combat, and poaching ability, but that’s not quite ready to ship yet. (Don’t worry, it’s not that far off now. You’ll get a hold of it next month.)
To get you in the mood to mess with your enemies once the new update hits the waves, we prepared a little community challenge: From today (August 17th) until next Tuesday (August 22nd), we’ll be tracking the number of districts all of our players ransack together. As you burn and pillage more districts, you will progressively unlock Humankind-themed rewards, alongside a few hints about the final in-game reward.
- Goal 1: A hint of what’s to come
- Goal 2: New G2G Badge
- Goal 3: A second glimpse of the future
- Goal 4: New Humankind wallpaper
- Goal 5: The final clue
- Goal 6: New free in-game content
The hints will be revealed as you reach the goals, but all other rewards will be delivered with the naval update.
Have fun stealing your neighbor’s riches!
The original post can be found here, and you can discuss this update and challenge with us here.
Play the new Civ5 “Game Of The Month” #227
This summer we are really going back between cold and warm! After the vikings for the Civ6 GOTM, you get for the Civ5 GOTM Shaka of the Zulus! You play on a standard size rainforest map on King level, and you need to win via Domination. You have until September 16 to make the Impis go all places!
For more information please check this thread.
Old World upate #112
Mohawk Games, the developers of Old World, have released the latest update for their game. This update includes improvements in the combat AI, the UI is now more informative in the preview of the combat damage, and many more small things including bug fixes.
Discuss this update with us here (and read the full list of changes too).
Old World is currently available in the Epic Store, on GOG and Steam.
Play the new Civ6 “Game Of The Month” #165
Also the Civ6 GOTM this time goes cooler: You play as Harald Hadrada on a standard size wet small continents map with high sea level (right for the vikings!) on Emperor level. You have sparse resources, and monopolies trying to monopolize them. You need to win via a Domination victory. You have time until September 15 to send all your men and women to Valhalla!

hard-drive.net: Is Civilization VI Better Than Civilization V? The Numbers in the Titles Say Yes
The authors from hard-drive net have released an article, called “Is Civilization VI Better Than Civilization V? The Numbers in the Titles Say Yes”.
Based on an in-depth analysis, with many hard facts and objective criteria underlying their endeavour, they have concluded that Civ6 is better than Civ5, because 6 > 5.
They compare it to the critically acclaimed movie series “The Godfather”, where everyone agrees that higher numbered titles are the better movies. It’s nearly like with the movie series Speed or Jaws, where later installments are definitely superior.
An excerpt from the article:
“One really cool thing about video games is that, with each new addition to a franchise, the game gets better. With each new franchise release, developers are able to use new technology to make graphics sharper, make gameplay tighter, remove or add features that make the game stronger, and all around improve every aspect of the game. That’s why it’s so helpful that games put the number in the title, because it helps you decide which to pick: whichever one has the highest number.”
