New monthly challenge: Rotating Reduxes + Civilization VI is now Steam native!

By | August 15, 2024

Firaxis’ community manager Sarah has brought us some interesting news today: The first is that for the Civ6 “Challenge Of The Month”, you will this time be getting each week a tweaked version of one of the previous challenges! This starts on August 14 with the “Seven Seas” challenge, but you get a permanent dark age, twice as many naval barbarians, water tiles dealing damage to units and more. On the 21st you will already be getting the next challenge.

For all the fans of the 2K launcher, there are sad news though ;): The launcher is not anymore necessary for Civ6, and will also not be used for Civ7.

Historians analzying the Civ7 trailer as obsessively as CivFanatics!

By | August 14, 2024

Twitter user, Civ streamer and history student paisley_trees has also taken a look at the Civ7 trailer (together with a colleague), and is commeting on all the details.
They also have a look at the graphics, comment on the lack of Sean Bean, and in general dissect it in the same fashion as we do.
I am not sure… did they see something we did not?
Please leave a comment about if they did here.

Millennia: Ancient Worlds DLC and update 5

By | August 13, 2024

The Paradox community manager PDX Katten has dropped by at CivFanatics to announce the release of the new DLC for Millennia, called “Ancient Worlds“. The DLC focuses on prehistoric times, and adds quite some features in this era. You can now start with a nomadic band instead of your first city (so like in Civ), you get ancinet megafauna such as Mastodons, an ice age start, new starting goverments to fit the flavour as well as new land marks. The DLC costs 9.99 and can be bought on Steam.

At the same time as the DLC also the latest update is released. This update contains a more standard form of the settler start, experimental simultaneous multiplayer and experimental modding support (among other things like bugfixes). For more info for both the DLC and the update check our thread here.

Sullla’s AI Survivor Season Eight – Wildcard Game 1

By | August 12, 2024

AI Survivor is an annual competition of all Civilization IV AI Leaders by long-time Civilization enthusiast and streamer Sullla.

We now enter the playoff phase of AI Survivor, starting with Wildcard Game 1. There will be two wildcard playoff games this season for the first time as enough leaders survived the early round that a second wildcard game is required. Only the winner of each wildcard game will advance to the playoff rounds. The wildcard games are particularly fun as the raging barbarian setting is turned on. The AI leaders will face an early onslaught of barbarian invasion. Will we see any AIs lose a city, or even better will we see a leader destroyed by the barbs? All entrants into the wildcard games survived their opening round match, some with only one city remaining. However, all these leaders will have a new opportunity to advance into the playoffs with the possibility of winning it all. Read more about the first wildcard game here. Be sure to make your picks in the picking context.

Sullla’s AI Survivor Season 8 continues Friday, August 16th on Sullla’s Twitch Channel at noon EST.
